Citrix and Thin Client Solutions
What is Citrix ?
Simply put, Citrix allows you to run applications hosted on servers on your local
area network (LAN), from anywhere in the world. You have real time access to run
your applications almost as fast as if you are in the office.
How does Citrix work?
Citrix sits on top of Windows 2000 or 2003, it allows multiple users to run multiple
applications on the Citrix Server at the same time. When you run applications on
the Citrix Server the screen shots are sent to your computer and in return your
keyboard input and mouse movements are sent to the Citrix Server.
FMI have been successfully deploying Citrix and Thin Client solutions for a wide
range of customers for many years and will often start Thin Client projects with
an Infrastructure Assessment. This is a structured process which evaluates the suitability
of a customer’s environment for the successful deployment and use of Citrix solutions.
This typically involves qualifying the customer’s current infrastructure and requirements
against established best practice and design principles. The IA concludes with a
written report and presentation to the customer sponsor
Proof of Concept - where the customer needs to prove delivery of some applications
via a Citrix Access solution, a Proof of Concept environment may be required. This
provides a small deployment suitable for initial validation and demonstration purposes,
typically delivering applications which are critical to a project or business activity.
Citrix @ FMI
FMI are a Citrix Slver Partner and have successfully been installing and supporting
Citrix for many years. For running applications remotely there is no better solution
and we would strongly recommend considering Citrix if your company requires remote
working facilities for its employees.
