Entourage 2008
What is Entourage 2008?
Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac is the most recent version of the Microsoft Office productivity suite for Mac OS X
Where do I download Entourage 2008?
Log in to the customer portal using your hosted account details provided by FMI, or contact FMI directly using the contact details page if you don't already have these.
Once you have accepted the terms and conditions, click the "Download Entourage 2008" link and choose a save location.
What to do with your downloaded Entourage 2008?
Having downloaded the
entourage.iso
image to your Mac, navigate to where your downloads are stored - the default location for a machine running Leopard is the Downloads folder, a shortcut to which is in the Dock at the bottom of the screen, the default for Tiger is your Desktop.
Double click on this file and it will 'mount' on your machine as a disk image.
You will see that the 'Microsoft Office Installer' window pops up and prompts you to double click to install so go ahead and do this.
The next steps are to simply follow the prompts/popups on your screen to install and slightly personalise your copy of Entourage - you do not need a serial number for this so just go ahead and click Next when prompted and input details and (once) your
system password
.
Configuring Entourage 2008
Open up Entourage 2008 and you will be prompted by the new account Wizard. Helpful though this is we are not going to use it so close the window.
When you have closed the new account assistant window, click on Tools\Accounts and the image below will pop up.
From here click on the arrow next to New and from the drop down list Choose Exchange. Again, the ever helpful Entourage will try and autoconfigure your account for you. We want to do this manually so click on ‘Configure Account Manually’
When you have clicked on Configure Account Manually you will see the account details page open up in front of you. This asks you several things such as your name, email address and your account logon details. Input all of these (if you do not know your account logon call the FMI helpdesk to get this – for Entourage this is different to your email address) and then in the box marked ‘Exchange server:’ enter ‘webmail.fmi.co.uk/exchange/your@email.address.goes.here’ as per the image below.
OK this and then close the Accounts window. After a few seconds (provided you are connected to the internet) Entourage will hook up to your mailbox and start synchronising it. As with Microsoft Outlook 2003/7 in cached mode, Entourage keeps a local copy of your mail on your hard drive so if there are a lot of items in your mailbox already this firsts run through will take some time. When it is finished, that is it – you are all set to use your email, calendar and contacts.
